STORY LINES
RIVALRY CONTINUED: The teams have met four times in each of the past two seasons and this will be the 12th meeting since Jan. 16, 2010. The Irish have also ended UConn's season in the NCAA national semifinals in 2011 and 2012.
TITLE CHASE: The Huskies had their run of five straight Big East regular season championships ended last season by the Irish. They will look to gain an advantage in the championship race today in the conference opener for both teams.
STOPPING DIGGINS: Diggins has scored at least 20 points in three of the last five games against UConn. Notre Dame has won all three.

Gilbert, who will be eligible to play for the Stags next season, is the brother of Fairfield forward Marcus Gilbert. ... Niagara, which is 5-1 at home, is coming off a 94-72 win over Marist. SHU shot a season-best 53.7 percent (29-54) in snapping a five-game losing streak to the defending champion Blackbirds. ... The Terriers come in off an impressive 63-61 road win at Quinnipiac on Thursday.Sophomore guard Brent Jones had a steal and lay-up for the go-ahead points with just nine seconds left in the win.
