Check off Ludlowe as the most recent Fairfield high school to hire a new boys basketball coach.

The school announced on Wednesday that long-time junior varsity coach and varsity assistant Brian Silvestro will take over as the head coach for the Falcons in 2010-11.

"We are excited to have him as our new varsity coach," Ludlowe athletic director Dave Schulz said. "Brian has a great understanding of the game and is willing to put in the time and effort necessary for our players to have a great experience."

Silvestro replaces Josh Marko who coached Ludlowe for six seasons. Marko was 61-68 in six years as the boss for the Falcons, leading the team to the state playoffs four times, reaching the second round twice.

Silvestro will take over a team that was 4-16 in 2009-10 and graduated four. He has coached for both Ludlowe and Fairfield High School as an assistant under Marko and previously Schulz.
