Westport firm buys retail display innovator
Gemspring Capital has acquired Rapid Displays, a Chicago company that sells custom promotional displays used in store aisles and at checkout counters, among other venues.
Westport-based Gemspring did not state what it paid for Rapid Displays, which was founded in 1938 and has its main office in Chicago, employing more than 500 people. Rapid Displays’ work includes Lego toy aisles in Walmart stores, Sony Playstation 4 kiosks and Cinco de Mayo “hacienda” stands featuring Bud Light beer and Tostitos chips and salsas.
Gemspring manages a portfolio totaling $355 million in investments in other companies, including Valant Medical Solutions, a Seattle-based developer of health record software for behavioral health providers.
