The Live Nation-produced summer tour of prog rock band moe. and 1990s jam band Blues Traveler rolls into Oakdale Theatre Saturday, July 20, with special guest G. Love also on hand.

If you’re unfamiliar with moe., the band has been touring for some three decades, with 11 studio albums and other live releases under its belt. The quintet of Al Schnier and Chuck Garvey on guitars and vocals, Rob Derhak on bass and vocals, Jim Loughlin on percussion and vibes and Vinnie Amico on drums is also part of the jam band and improvisational rock scene (opening for the likes of the Allman Brothers and The Who).

Blues Traveler also formed more than three decades ago, featuring front man John Popper, Chandler Kinchla, the late Bobby Sheehan and Brendan Hill. The band has released 13 studio albums, four of which have gone gold, three platinum and one six times platinum. It is universally known for one of our favorite examples of an ear worm ever, Grammy winner “Round-Around,” which was the longest-charting radio single in Billboard history. They also had hits with “Hook” and “But Anyway” in 1994.

Movie credits include “Blues Brothers 2000,” and “Wildflowers” and their TV appearances include “Saturday Night Live” and “Austin City Limits.”
