Saturday's schools roundup: Taylor leads Hamden Hall football team to win in opener

Kanye Taylor ran for 155 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Hamden Hall football team to a season-opening win over Rivers in Weston, Mass., on Saturday.

Elijah Light also scored for the Hornets on a 35-yard pass from Ethan Coady. Amari Phillips led the defense with 12 tackles and a sack.

Rivers scored in the fourth quarter when Amir Lindsay caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Michael Pasko.

Boys soccer

Guilford 3, North Haven 1: Andres Gutierrez and Tyler Yerkes scored in the second half to lead the Grizzlies to an SCC win.

Law 3, Shelton 0: Lex Edwards scored three goals and Jaden Wywoda had five saves to lead the Eagles to an SCC win. It was the second hat trick of the week for Edwards.

Morgan 1, Valley Regional 0: Steven Kinser scored in the 31st minute off an assist from Tyler Mucha to lead the Huskies to a Shoreline Conference win.

Bailey Goss had eight saves for the Huskies. Ian Silva had three saves for the Warriors.

Girls soccer

Guilford 2, East Haven 1: Eve Rini and Tea Gambardella scored to lead the Grizzlies to an SCC win. Jocelyn Lucero scored for the Easties.

Sacred Heart Academy 2, Sheehan 1: Juliana Garcia scored the game-winning goal at 74:37 to lead the SHArks to an SCC win. Amy Casorla gave the Titans a 1-0 lead at 56:40. Adrina Tuozzoli tied the game at 1 for the SHArks at 70:22.

Shelton 2, Foran 1: Audrey Kozak scored the game-winning goal off an assist from Lily Bacca with 1:38 to go in the game to lead the Gaels to an SCC comeback win.

Colleen Ardolino gave Foran a 1-0 lead in the first half. In the second half, Isabella Tellez tied the game at 1 for the Gaels, setting up Kozak’s game-winning opportunity. Julia Pulley had 11 saves for Shelton and Hannah Della Bitta-Falkowski had six saves for Foran.

Field hockey

Sacred Heart Academy 2, Branford 1: Maya Bohen scored the game-winning goal 6:40 into overtime to lead the SHArks to an SCC win. Julia McHenry tied the game at 1 for the Hornets with 4:12 left in regulation.
