FAIRFIELD CITIZEN ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
NAME: Bryce Keblish
SCHOOL: Fairfield Prep
ACCOMPLISHMENT: Won two individual races and swam on a pair of winning relay races as the Jesuits won the Southern Connecticut Conference (SCC) swimming championship for the 11th straight year. Keblish won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:41.25 -- almost four seconds faster than second place finisher, Karl Bishop of Cheshire -- and won the 100-yard backstroke in 54.17 seconds. He also anchored Prep's 400-yard freestyle relay team to a second place finish (3:21.22) and was the No. 2 swimmer in Prep's third place finish in the 200-yard medley relay event (1:42.78).
NAME: Alex McKinnon
SCHOOL: Fairfield Ludlowe
SPORT: Girls basketball
ACCOMPLISHMENT: Helped the Falcons (13-11) reach the Class LL quarterfinals for the first time in program history. Scored five points in a season-ending 56-22 loss to Mercy. Scored 12 points in a CIAC second round win over E.O. Smith and scored 15 points in a first-round victory over Nonnewaug. Averaged eight rebounds in the CIAC tournament.
