BERLIN -- The Bullard-Havens Tigers saw their season come to an end in the quarterfinals of the Class M playoffs at the hands of Berlin 41-14 Tuesday night.

With the snow falling at Sage Park the Tigers saw themselves fall down 21-0 in the first quarter before scoring 14 unanswered points on Jacqua Solomon touchdown runs to pull within seven points.

"We have this kind of habit on our long bus rides of taking a quarter to wake up," Bullard-Havens coach John Johnson said. "As you can see today, we didn't wake up until the second quarter. We can't spot the No. 2 (seedeed) team 21 points. We fought back in that second quarter. I felt like we had them on the ropes a little bit."

Johnson said the weather conditions were no excuse.

"Both teams had to play in this weather," he said.

Senior captain John Shannon echoed his coach's statement.

"The weather played some factor," he said. "But it's no excuse for not doing our job. We had just play through it."

With the score 28-14, Berlin lined up to punt and the ensuing punt was muffed by Bullard-Havens, leaving Berlin the ball at the Tigers' 35-yard line. Berlin capitalized, punching in a score to pull away 35-14 and put the game on ice.

The Tigers' final record stands at 8-3, a successful season despite the ending.

"I'm very proud of my team," Shannon said. "We worked hard this whole season."

Solomon talked about the Tigers getting where they wanted to be.

"We set going to states as our goal for this senior class," he said. "We fought hard since August and we got here."

Johnson was proud of his team's season as well.

"This was one of the most talented teams I've coached," he said. "They represented themselves well today."
