Just in time for the holidays, the Bridgeport Rescue Mission received a visit from Cindi Bigelow, president of Fairfield-based Bigelow Tea Co., who brought with her a check for $7,000, part of the proceeds from this year's Bigelow Tea Community Challenge road race in Fairfield.

In two separate Rescue Mission campuses that currently house up to 49 people, students receive support to help them grow emotionally, spiritually and academically through the New Life Discipleship Program. It is a long-term residential program offering students a safe environment in which to heal from addiction and other destructive behaviors. Through counseling and practical education, they are able to overcome addictions, regain a sense of dignity and develop new habits.
