The New Haven Symphony Orchestra travels to Fairfield on Dec. 18 for a holiday pops concert.

The "Holiday Extravaganza" concert, set for 8 p.m., will be performed in Fairfield University's Quick Center, under the baton of Associate Conductor Gerald Steichen.

The program is a blend of seasonal favorites, featuring mezzo-soprano Heather Johnson and the voices of the New Canaan High School Madrigal Ensemble under the direction of David Gomez. Rounding out the NHSO holiday tradition is an audience sing-a-long.

Johnson has performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center, as well as with the Boston Pops Orchestra. In 2006, she received the New York City Opera's Stanley Tausend Award, which is presented to a young artist in the season following their debut with the company.

Tickets, which cost $35 and $40, are available at or from the Quick Center box office at 203-254-4010. Toll-free number is 1-877-ARTS-396.
