Program on brain-based skills set for April 13

Smart Kids with Learning Disabilities will sponsor a free program on "Minds in the Making: Practical Strategies To Build Executive Function Brain-based Skills" Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon at Fairfield Public Library, 1080 Old Post Road.
Executive function and strategic parent coach Ruthann Short, MSW, LCSW, and academic coach Mary Plotzker, M.Ed., will discuss practical strategies for the development of brain-based executive function skills for parents of children 5 to 12 years old.
The program will provide a developmental perspective on self-regulation and offer research-based strategies as well as organizational tools, templates and techniques. Participants will learn about academic coaching, adaptive and compensatory skills and the patience and practice required to build children's executive skills.
