Students from Mill Hill Elementary School participated in its first annual read-a-thon in October. The children were awarded for the most minutes ready individually, most pledges earned, as well as most minutes read per classroom.
The school raised more than $18,000 and 100 percent of that money will go to the Parent Teacher Association. It will be used to fund various school activities, field trips and materials needed for the school.
The winners for most minutes read from each grade were: Ryder Gatenby (kindergarten, 240 minutes); Alexander McKinnis (first grade, 373 minutes); David Burton (second grade, 854 minutes); Patrick Kelly (third grade, 1,657 minutes); Caitlin Chen (fourth grade, 1,712 minutes); and Crawford Mitchell (fifth grade, 1,750 minutes).
