Wakeman Boys & Girls Club in late March hosted the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Northeast Regional Fine Art Exhibit at Pequot Library, showcasing more than 630 pieces of artwork from 47 Boys & Girls Clubs throughout New England and Puerto Rico.

This marks the first time Wakeman was the host site for the exhibit, an initiative that aims to promote young people's creativity and to encourage their skills and cultural enrichment.

Judges Kristin Fox, executive director of the Fairfield Arts Center; Rachel Rockwell, local artist and art teacher in Bridgeport, and Steven Steele Cawman, photographer and Fairfield Arts Center member, selected 37 pieces from 10 categories to represent the Northeast Boys & Girls Clubs in the National Fine Arts Exhibit in Atlanta, Ga.

Seven pieces were created by Wakeman Boys & Girls Club members: "City at Night," a collage by Maggie West; "Soldier," a watercolor by Brandon Moutinho; "Untitled," a monochromatic drawing by Jess Henry; "Reflection," a monochromatic drawing by Margeaux Hummerstone; "Untitled," a monochromatic drawing by Sarah Nesi; and "Church Bells," a print by Sarah Nesi.
