Bridgeport PD: Man found with gun after taking child without permission
BRIDGEPORT — A city man was arrested Monday after allegedly taking a child without permission, assaulting a women and being found with a gun, according to Bridgeport police.
Officers responded to Trumbull Avenue for an alleged assault at 8:26 p.m. Sunday night, according to a release from Scott Appleby, the Bridgeport director of emergency management and homeland security.
A man, later identified as Edward Reid, 36, allegedly assaulted a woman and took a child without permission in a black sedan, Appleby said.
His vehicle was later stopped near Home Depot, according to the release, and police found that he was in possession of a firearm.
Reid was charged with sale of a controlled substance, illegal possession of a narcotic, illegal transfer of a pistol / revolver, carrying a pistol without a permit and illegal weapon of a weapon, according to the release. He was given a $50,000 bond.
Kenyetta Bush, allegedly driving the vehicle, was arrested as well, according to the release.
Bush was charged with illegal weapon in a motor vehicle, risk of injury to a child and interfering with an officer / resisting arrest, Appleby said. She was given a bond of $10,000.
The woman who was allegedly assaulted was not severely injured, Appleby said. The child who was taken was unharmed and later reunited with their mother.
