BRIDGEPORT - A local gas station is facing a $570 civil penalty after two federal Food and Drug administration compliance checks in less than a year revealed the sale of cigars to minors.

Wheels Citgo at 3956 Main St. was issued a warning in July after a clerk sold a cigar to a minor without verifying the person's age with photo identification, reports said. The store was cited a second time in December after a minor was able to purchase a package of cigars, inspectors said.

As a result of the violations, the FDA issued a civil penalty of $570 on March 18.
