BRIDGEPORT — Discovery Interdistrict Magnet School will hold classes remotely through Oct. 5, according to a Saturday announcement from the Bridgeport Public Schools.

On the district’s Facebook page, officials said classes would shift to remote learning beginning Monday. In-person classes are expected to resume Oct. 5, officials said.

“If your child requires a device to participate in remote learning, please contact the school on Monday,” officials said on Facebook.

Superintendent Michael Testani also noted the shift to remote learning at the magnet school, which serves students in pre-K through eighth grade, on Twitter.

Neither the Facebook post nor Testani’s tweet explained the reason for the shift. Testani and Prinicpal Sangeeta Bella did not immediately respond to requests for comment Saturday evening.

Remote learning has been used by other schools as an option to educate students during the coronavirus pandemic.
