Drone photos: Yankees GM Brian Cashman makes annual rappel before Stamford tree lighting

STAMFORD — Santa and friends took their traditional leap into the limelight off the tallest building in Stamford Sunday, rappelling down the Landmark Building, 350 feet to the ground. For Yankees General Manager and Darien resident Brian Cashman, this is the 11th time he’s played the “Jolly Old Elf,” picking up a part of a tradition that started in 1984 and now is a feature of the city’s annual Heights and Lights spectacular. Cashman, after rappelling down the tower, zip-lined to The Ferguson Library for a fireworks display. The last stop in the festive yuletide trek took Cashman to Latham Park for the city’s annual tree lighting and carols from the Yuletide Singers.
