Big Y supermarket in Ansonia recently donated $1,000 to the Hewitt Center for Breast Wellness at Griffin Hospital to help prevent breast cancer in the Lower Naugatuck Valley area.
The donation was part of Big Y’s 11th annual Partners of Hope Campaign to promote breast cancer screening, education and treatment. Throughout October, Big Y stores sold $1 Partners of Hope pink ribbons. The funds collected were distributed to breast cancer organizations throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts.
The Hewitt Center for Breast Wellness at Griffin Hospital opened in 2011, combining state-of-the-art technology, a team of highly trained physicians and staff, and a Planetree healing environment to offer patients a comprehensive range of personalized breast care and wellness services.
