Basketball camp at Central Middle School next week

The Greenwich High School Rebounders Club is sponsoring a basketball camp June 19-21 at Central Middle School.

The camp is open to students from second to eighth grade and will be conducted by Greenwich High School basketball coaches and captains at Central Middle School.

The three-day camp (June 19-21) is scheduled to be held from 4:30-7 p.m. each day.

Guests at the camp include Greenwich High School graduate C.J. Byrd, who concluded his collegiate basketball career at Le Moyne College this past winter.

Byrd plans on continuing his career at the professional level in Australia.

Conor Harkins, a 2017 GHS graduate, will also visit the camp to talk to the youngsters and lend his expertise. Harkins (6-3) averaged 13 points a game for Swarthmore College’s men’s basketball team and helped them reach the title game of the NCAA Division III Championships.

Matt Brust, an assistant coach on Lovermi’s Greenwich High School staff, will also be on hand at the camp. Brust played basketball at St. John’s, then was a member of the NBA’s Chicago Bulls in the late 1980’s.

“My staff and I can’t wait to get to know the players coming through the Greenwich youth basketball programs,” GHS boys basketball coach Chris Lovermi said. “We’re going to have fun, show the kids ways to improve their games and demonstrate how attitude and commitment can drive you to be your best.”

The cost of the camp is $250 (includes a team T-Shirt) with all of the proceeds benefiting the GHS boys basketball program. For more information and to register for the camp, contact the Greenwich Rebounders Club at:
