Man, thrown from motorcycle, dies

FAIRFIELD -- A 21-year-old man died after being thrown from his motorcycle Saturday night and then being run over by a car that fled the scene.

State Police said John Guiza, of 681 Judd St., Fairfield, was pronounced dead at the scene north of exit 19 on I-95 shortly before 8:30 p.m.

Witnesses told State Trooper Christopher Peyton that Guiza was riding a 2003 Yamaha at a speed faster than the flow of traffic.

As traffic slowed he attempted to change lanes and pass a 1994 Toyota Camry driven by Sonya Dorsey-Gleaton, 40, of Stamford, when he struck the right side of her car.

The impact threw Guiza off the motorcycle onto the roadway, police said. The motorcycle continued on, striking a 2003 Honda Element driven by Gena Kadar, 28, of Brewster Street, Bridgeport.

Witnesses said that while Guiza was in the center lane of the highway he was struck by a car that fled the scene.

Neither of the other drivers reported injuries.
