Parolee charged in Bridgeport home invasion, rape
BRIDGEPORT — A man on parole for weapons charges was arrested Tuesday night after police said he broke into a home and raped a woman here.
Okino Richards, 29, of Down Street, was charged with home invasion, first-degree sexual assault, second-degree strangulation, third-degree assault and first-degree reckless endangerment.
He was being held in lieu of $500,000 bond.
Police said the woman was asleep in her bedroom when she woke up to a man choking her. The woman tried to fight the man off, scratching at his face, but she was weakened by the lack of air, police said, and nearly passed out.
They said the man then ripped her clothes off and raped her. The man then told the woman he knew he was going back to prison, police said.
Police said Richards was identified as the assailant from his cell phone, which he left behind in the woman’s home.
