April 16, 1964: Wallace Rashall, 8509 Highcrest, a draftsman, fearlessly gathers in a swarm of bees in Sharpstown Center. The bees, full of honey and nearly dormant, followed a queen bee to the center Wednesday and picked a new car to rest in at lunch time. Girls from Rashall's nearby office returned agog from lunch and told him about the swarming bees. Although he had never done it before, he went out and, by hand and with a draftsman's brush, gathered the whole swarm into a box. He's always wanted a swarm of bees, he said, as he built a hive Wednesday night.
