FAIRFIELD — A Beechwood Lane man was arrested early Sunday morning after he allegedly waved a knife at his ex-wife.
Michael Carafotes, 31, was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree threatening, and disorderly conduct after police were called to the Beechwood Lane home around 2:45 a.m.
According to Carafotes, he was sleeping on the kitchen floor when his ex-wife cut his arm for no reason.
She told police the pair had been out at a bar drinking when he began to berate her and continued to berate her as she drove them home. When they got to the back porch, he wrestled her purse, which held her cell phone, from her. During the tussle, she fell down, cutting her knee. She managed to get away from him and went upstairs to allow him to cool off, according to the report.
When she went back downstairs, Carafotes grabbed her by the back of the neck and waved an eight-inch serrated knife at her. She told police she managed to grab the knife away from him, cutting her hands in the process.
Carafotes was released after posting a $5,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Bridgeport Monday.
