15-year-old arrested after allegedly robbing Torrington business with firearm
TORRINGTON — A 15-year-old youth was recently arrested after allegedly robbing a South Main Street business, according to the Torrington Police Department.
Lt. Brett Johnson said police responded to a reported robbery at Tobacco Mart, located at 7 South Main St., on Jan. 12.
“It was reported that a juvenile male had brandished a gun and stolen merchandise prior to leaving the scene,” Johnson said on Facebook. “As a result of community involvement and communication with the police, the 15 year old male juvenile was identified and an arrest warrant was issued.”
The 15-year-old was charged with first-degree robbery, carrying a dangerous weapon and first-degree threatening, Johnson said.
He turned himself into police, then was taken to the juvenile detention facility in Hartford, where he is currently being held, Johnson said.
