A 27-year-old man drowned Sunday evening in a neighbor's pool on Evergreen Hill Road.
Christopher Perez, who also lives on Evergreen Hill Road and had permission to use the pool while dog-sitting for the pool owners, was swimming shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday with his 14-year-old sister, police said Monday.
He had just swum the length of the pool underwater, stood up and complained of discomfort in an arm and then went back under water, according to details released on the accident Monday.
The girl ran to alert her parents when Perez did not resurface, and they pulled him from the pool and immediately started to apply cardio-pulmonary resuscitation. Police and firefighters dispatched to the scene also tried to resuscitate Perez, who taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport, where he was declared dead.
Perez was described as good swimmer, according to police.
An autopsy is scheduled Tuesday morning at the chief state's medical examiner's office.
