Two armed men wearing black ski masks held up the 7-Eleven convenience store, 3232 Post Road, on Monday night and escaped with money from the cash register, police said.
The robbery unfolded about 8:30 p.m. Monday when, as the men entered the convenience store at the Shell gas station in the Southport section of town, one of them jumped over the counter. The other man, brandishing a handgun, walked around the counter and ordered the clerk to open the cash register. When the register was opened, they grabbed an undetermined amount of cash and fled the store on foot.
A witness saw the suspects go up a wooded path on the northwest side of the store. A Bridgeport police canine unit lost the robbers' trail near Kings Highway West, leading police to believe the men had a getaway car parked nearby.
The robbers were described as black and wearing black masks, gloves and hoods. One was wearing a flat-brimmed baseball cap with a gold hologram sticker on the brim and large, black sunglasses.
No shots were fired and there were no injuries.
