Alice L. Lindstrom, 75, a longtime resident of Fairfield and Venice, Fla., the wife of Richard E. Lindstrom, died March 19, 2010, in Venice.

Born in Englewood, N.J., she was a graduate of Green Mountain College. Lindstrom relished the opportunity to travel the world as an international stewardess for Trans World Airlines (TWA) and accompany her husband on his foreign business trips, before settling down to her true love of caring for the family.

She was a longtime member of The Patterson Club of Fairfield and Jacaranda West Country Club of Venice, Fla. An avid golfer who also loved to play bridge at both clubs, she was well known for being an outstanding hostess to neighbors, friends, family and her husband's international visitors, whether at home, camping, on their boat or anywhere or anytime that called for an occasion. She jumped at any chance to help a friend, and will be remembered for her warmth, genuine friendship and unwillingness to say a bad word about anyone.

In addition to her husband of 47 years, she is survived by her son, Rick and his wife, Julie of San Francisco, Calif.; two daughters, Karen Upton of Hopkinton, Mass., and Donna Donnelly and her husband, Mark of Fairfield; her grandchild, Ryan Donnelly; a sister, Judy Cleary of Knoxville, Tenn.; her nephews, Any, Bruce and David VanCleve; and her niece, Kay Grissom.

Friends are invited to greet her family today, March 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road, Fairfield. All other services will be private.

Donations may be made in her memory to the American Lung Association of Connecticut, 45 Ash St., East Hartford, CT 06108-3272.
