ALYCE CHAIKIN KLEINMAN

Alyce Chaikin Kleinman, 86, died March 24, 2010, at Kimball Farms Lifecare Retirement Community in Lenox, Mass.
Born April 14, 1923, in New York City, N.Y., she was the daughter of Morris and Sarah Chaikin. She graduated from Parsons School of Design and worked as a commercial artist before her marriage to Harold Kleinman, MD.
She raised her sons in Bridgeport and Fairfield, where she resumed her career and became a lauded member of the Silvermine Artist Guild, specializing in silverpoint drawings. Kleinman continued to work successfully as an artist until recent years. She was a dedicated supporter of Fairfield University and Fairfield Preparatory School, and the Jesuit community.
She is survived by two sons, George Kleinman and his wife, Mayumi,of Easton, and Thomas John Kleinman and his wife, Sarah Blexrud; her grandchildren, Cole, Hannah and Benjamin of Great Barrington, Mass; her sisters, Ruth Wile of Bloomfield and Adele Thomas of Fort Lee, N.J.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a brother, Leon Chaikin.
The funeral for Kleinman will take place today, March 26, at 1 p.m. at Ahavath Sholem Cemetery in Great Barrington, Mass., with Rabbi Rosenberg of Hevreh of Southern Berkshire officiating. The family will receive friends at their home in Great Barrington on Saturday, March 27, from noon to 4 p.m.
