After a brief hiatus, the "Wednesday's Pet" animal-adoption forum has returned to Board of Selectmen meetings.

To promote the adoption homeless animals housed at the Fairfield Animal Shelter, former Selectman Sherri Steeneck took the opportunity last week to show off, "Scruffy," a mixed-breed male about 8 months old.

"He's quite friendly," Steeneck said, but cautioned the small dog is a little scared of children. Scruffy weighs about 10 to 12 pounds and would be a good pet for a small house or apartment.

Scruffy can be adopted at the animal shelter, One Rod Highway, for $50. The person who adopts Scruffy will get a certificate to cover the cost of neutering.
