Armed robbers hold up bank in downtown Fairfield
Two men, one of them armed, robbed the downtown TD Bank office Friday morning and escaped with an undetermined amount of cash.
The branch bank at 1643 Post Road opened at 8 a.m., and a few minutes later, two men entered, police said. One of the men jumped over the counter and confronted a teller, while the second man remained in the customer area,
One robber had a silver handgun, and demanded money from the teller.
The men were given an undetermined amount of cash and they fled out the bank's rear doors. Police said it was not immediately determined if they left the area in a vehicle. That section of the Post Road offers access to nearby Interstate 95.
The suspects, as recorded by the bank's video surveillance cameras, are described as black males wearing all black clothing, gloves and ski masks.
No one was injured during the brief holdup.
