Nikolay Papp, whose body was found Saturday in Ash Creek, died as a result of accidental drowning, according to a ruling from the chief medical examiner's office Thursday.
The cause of death was listed as asphyxia caused by drowning, and the manner was described as accidental.
Papp, a native of Ukraine, left his Plum Street home around 8 p.m. on Friday for a walk. Papp's wife, according to the police report, said he had been drinking "fairly heavily" that night.
She went to police headquarters Saturday around 5:30 a.m. because Papp still had not returned from his walk. He was found by a Riverside Drive resident who was out walking his dog around 8 a.m. Saturday.
Papp was face down in the water, near the Riverside Drive bridge that crosses Ash Creek. There were no signs of trauma, police said.
