Bruce Benson Hawley died July 25, 2010, in Bridgeport Hospital after a brief illness.

A retired banker, Hawley was predeceased by his wife Josephine Schlumberger of Paris, France, who he met while attending Columbia University.

Hawley was active with Clasp Homes and served on its board for many years.

He is survived by three sons, Benjamin of Westport; Marc and his wife Merrie of Darien; John and his wife Patricia and grandchildren, Heather, Danielle, Stephanie and David Hawley, all of Monroe. He was predeceased by parents Samuel and Sissy Hawley and sister Caroline H. Davis. Other survivors include a brother Samuel and his wife Ingrid, their children Samuel of Fairfield and Britt of Los Angeles, and a nephew Thomas S. Davis of Bridgeport.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Greenfield Hill Congregational Church. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Clasp Homes Inc., 246 Post Road East, Westport, CT 06880, or another charity of choice.
