Bicycle thieves on a roll in town
A series of bicycle thefts has been reported in town since the beginning of the month.
The biggest loss was the reported theft of an $8,000 racing bicycle from an open garage on Stonybrook Road sometime between 3 and 5 p.m. July 2.
A bicycle valued at $1,200 was taken from a driveway on Fairfield Beach Road sometime between 10:30 p.m. Saturday and 11:20 a.m. Sunday. The bike was not secured, police said.
A $400 Trek bicycle was reported stolen form the south side of the downtown train station last Thursday morning. It was locked to a pole.
Another bicycle, worth $100, was reported stolen from in front of a set of stairs at the Brick Walk, sometime between 10 a.m. .and noon Thursday.
And another bike of unknown value was reported stolen from a driveway on Stephens Lane sometime late last Wednesday or early Thursday. The theft was reported to police at 1:54 p.m. Friday.
