Probus Club will hold its 21st annual Bike the Beach fundraiser Sunday, Sept. 18, at Jennings Beach to raise money for local programs for people with intellectual disabilities

The event will feature a variety of routes from leisurely to challenging, accommodating serious cyclists as well as families out for a Sunday ride. Riders may participate in a 10, 20, 45, or 62-mile route along the coastline that will start and finish at the beach, with the longest route passing through Fairfield, Southport, Westport, Norwalk and Darien.

Noncyclists will be able to participate in Hike the Beach, a 5-K fitness walk on a level route in the Fairfield beach area.

The first 300 online pre-registrants will receive a souvenir T-shirt. Detailed maps and cue sheets, fruit and water, lunch, sag wagon support, stocked rest stops with rest rooms will be provided.

The registration fee is $35 for riders, $25 for fitness walkers. Anyone raising a minimum of $35 in pre-paid pledges can ride or walk for free. Various levels of business sponsorships are also available.

Probus Club is a volunteer organization dedicated to supporting housing, training, and social programs for community members with disabilities. The club also sponsors Probus House, a group home with professional residential support.
