One of the two branch offices of First Niagara Bank in Fairfield will be closed under plans announced this week, with the accounts consolidated at the bank's other local office in January.

The branch bank at 2500 Black Rock Turnpike will be closed, bank officials said, as part of a broader plan to consolidate 17 branches and two drive-through locations across four states.

Accounts at the shuttered bank will be moved to First Niagara's branch in Fairfield Center at 1761 Post Road.

Customers of the affected office will receive a written notice 90 days in advance of the closing date, the bank said. Customer accounts will be automatically moved to the downtown branch.
