The Fairfield Theatre Co. will present a performance by Roomful of Blues 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at StageOne, 70 Sanford St. Doors open 7 p.m.

The blues band, known for 40 years of playing swing and blues, was formed by guitarist Duke Robillard and pianist Al Copley, according to a company news release.

As its members changed over the years, the band has given rise to several other well-known musicians, such as guitarist Ronnie Earl, organist Ron Levy, singer Lou Ann Barton, vocalist/harmonica player Sugar Ray Norcia and drummer Fran Christina, later of the Fabulous Thunderbirds.

The band earned a 2011 Boston Music Award for Best Blues Act, the release states.
