Blues guitarist Jeff Pitchell his band Texas Flood will perform Saturday, July 20, at the Fairfield Theatre Co.'s StageOne.

Doors open at the 70 Sanford St. theater at 7 p.m., and the show is scheduled at 7:30.

Pitchell forged his roadhouse blues style by taking key elements of blues masters Stevie Ray Vaughan and B.B. King, plus Jimi Hendrix, FTC said in a news release.

Joining Pitchell for the show will be guitarist Johnny A., a one-time winner of Boston Music's Blues Artist of the Year.

Pitchell has opened 11 times for B.B. King, according to the release, and has performed and recorded with the late Clarence Clemons, Buddy Guy, Rick Derringer, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Joe Cocker, Leslie West, J. Geils, Jeff Healey, James Cotton, Roomful of Blues and the Marshall Tucker Band.

Johnny A. -- his last name is Antonopoulos but was mispronounced so often he's been "Johnny A." since age 8 -- is know both for his music and for his signature Gibson custom guitar, which FTC said is one of the company's best-selling models.

In the 1980s he co-produced and performed on an album by J. Geils band front man Peter Wolf, and he has played with B.B. King, Robert Cray and Jeff Beck, FTC said.

Backing them up are a veteran mix of musicians in Texas Flood, one of several bands named for the classic blues song. The band includes Jimmie Biggins on sax (formerly with James Taylor and The Themptations), Marty Richards on drums (drummer for J Geils Band, Joe Perry's Band, and Peter Wolf's Band), Dave Natale on bass and Dan Fontanella on organ.
