FAIRFIELD — A Bridgeport man was arrested at Superior Court Nov. 3 and charged with the September burglary of a Mill Hill Terrace home.
Andre Genest, 28, of Maple Street, was charged with third-degree burglary and third-degree larceny. He was held on a $50,000 bond after being arraigned.
Genest was stopped by police for traffic violations, after leading officers on a brief pursuit. He jumped out of the car and fled on foot, but the car kept moving and struck some shrubs before coming to a stop. Genest was found face down, hiding under some bushes.
He was released at that time after posting a $5,000 bond for charges that included reckless driving, engaging in pursuit and possession of narcotics. In the car, police found jewelry taken in a Shelton burglary.
The charges stemming from that arrest were the reason Genest was in court Nov. 3, when Fairfield Police leveled additional charges against him for a seperate incident.
On Sept. 4, the Mill Hill Terrace residents returned from vacation and found their house had been burglarized. Missing were assorted pieces of jewelry, gift cards, a laptop, a brand new leaf blower, and a jar with about $1,200 in cash.
It was on Sept. 5 that Genest allegedly pawned items from the Mill Hill Terrace home at East Coast Pawn in Bridgeport.
