FAIRFIELD — Justin Rivera, a 30-year-old Bridgeport resident, was arrested after allegedly shoplifting socks from Kohl’s department store.

On June 10, a loss prevention supervisor reported a shoplifting incident that occurred around 11 a.m. on June 7.

According to the supervisor, she was working in the Trumbull location of the store when a sales associate in the Fairfield location called to inform her there was a man inside the store that had been arrested multiple times for shoplifting there in the past.

From the associate’s description, the supervisor recognized the man as Rivera, who she knew from past incidents, police said. Surveillance video footage recorded Rivera taking several pairs of socks and passing through all registers without paying, police said. According to the supervisor, the items totaled to $120.

Around 2 p.m. the same day, the supervisor reported she observed Rivera shoplifting at the Trumbull location.

She confronted Rivera in the parking lot, at which time he allegedly asked if she was following him, dropped the items and ran. This incident is being investigated by the Trumbull Police Department.

Rivera was arrested on warrant on July 26 and charged with sixth-degree larceny and second-degree criminal trespassing. He is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 6.
