FAIRFIELD — A Bridgeport woman was charged after a hit-and-run car accident on the Fairfield University campus Dec. 23, police said.
Police were called around 11 a.m. after a witness saw the driver, Candice Peterkin, of Gem Avenue, back into a parked car. According to police, after hitting the car, Peterkin got out, assessed the damage, said to the witness, “I’m OK,” and then got in the car and drove away. The witness was able to capture Peterkin’s license plate, which allowed Fairfield Police to locate her at her Bridgeport home.
Peterkin, 20, admitted to police she was involved in the accident and told police she slid on ice and heard a noise before leaving the scene.
Peterkin was charged with evading responsibility. She posted a $50 cash bond ahead of a Dec. 27 court date.
