FAIRFIELD — A Mill Plain Road man was charged after he allegedly kicked in the glass door at the Seagrape, 1144 Reef Road, early Monday morning.
Christopher Cody, 33, told police he was trying to get an Uber ride home and was cold, so he attempted to get back into the bar, which by that time was closed. An employee was working the kitchen when he heard a loud bang and went out to the bar to investigate.
The employee found one of the front glass entrance doors shattered and saw a man standing in front of the door, who then ran off.
Police located Cody on One Rod Highway, and the employee positively identified Cody as the man he saw at the door. Cody admitted he’d been at the bar and, asked if he’d seen anything suspicious, allegedly replied, “Well, I think I broke a door.”
Cody was charged with second-degree criminal mischief and was released to his wife on a promise to appear in state Superior Court in Bridgeport Jan. 24.
