Police are investigating two burglaries reported Tuesday afternoon in the Southport section of town, but do not believe the incidents are related.

In the first, an Arbor Drive resident arrived home around 3 p.m. to find the dwelling's front door ajar and the rooms ransacked. Among the possessions reported taken were a 37-inch Vizio flat screen television worth $700 and an X-Box valued at $300.

The second incident was reported around 5:30 p.m. by a Hulls Highway resident, who came home to find the back door broken. Two flat-screen television sets, worth $250 and $300, were reported taken along with some jewelry.
