A Bridgeport man faces burglary charges after he broke into a Brooklawn Avenue home Monday morning, and was chased by the homeowners before being captured by police.

Eugene Marrero, 28, of Carleton Street in Bridgeport, walked into the Brooklawn kitchen around 10:30 a.m. The woman resident saw Marrero and yelled for her husband, police said. When they confronted him, he indicated he was looking for someone else's house, police said.

At that point, police said, Marrero fled the scene on his bicycle, pursued by the couple in their car who kept him in sight until they encountered a Bridgeport patrol car. Bridgeport officers apprehended Marrero and turned him over to Fairfield police.

He was charged with second-degree burglary, possession of a dangerous weapon (a double-edged knife) and possession of burglary tools.

Marrero was held on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear Nov. 20 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
