Fairfield County Arts Association is inviting area artists to submit work for a six-week exhibit in the town's Independence Hall, but nonmembers must join the association to participate.

Work will be hung in the first- and second-floor hallways of the municipal building between Dec. 4 and Jan. 17 and can be viewed by the public during business hours, the association said.

Artists may submit up to four pieces. At least one piece must be for sale, and the price must include a 25 percent commission for the association.

Pieces must be suitable for a public building, measure no more than 40 inches in any direction and must be wired for hanging.

Acceptance will be by size, number of entries, suitability for a public building, and available wall space.

Art will be received on Tuesday, Dec. 4, between 1 and 3 p.m. in the first-floor conference room in Independence Hall. No work will be accepted afterwards.

Association membership requires a $30 fee, which can be paid when artwork is received. An additional fee of $5 for each work hung will be charged.

There will an artists' reception on Wednesday, Dec. 12, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the conference room.

The Fairfield County Arts Association is a networking club for area artists, professional and nonprofessionals in all media.

Independence Hall is at 725 Old Post Road.
