The Fairfield Theatre Company will host a performance by Canadian folk musician Alan Doyle at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, at StageOne, 70 Sanford St. Doors open 7.

Doyle, who had a part in Universal Studios' 2010 "Robin Hood" with Russell Crowe, formed the group Great Big Sea in 1993 with fellow musicians Sean McCann, Bob Hallett and Darrell Power, according to a release.

The group has produced nine albums and two DVD releases, which have been certified gold or platinum, and played theaters and arenas across the United States.

Doyle also is a producer, arranger and general musical catalyst, having produced albums for Crowe and The Irish Descendants, among others. He also has furnished soundtracks for the movie "Young Triffie's Been Made Away With," the television series "Hatching, Matching and Dispatching," and for a Nintendo video game.

He recently released a new album, "Boy on Bridge."
