Cat killed, dog owner ticketed

FAIRFIELD — A Bridgeport man was ticketed after police said his dog got loose and killed a cat on Shoreham Village Drive Saturday afternoon.

Steven Hyatt, 31, told police he was working behind a house on Shoreham Village Drive, when his boss told him his dog, a pit bull, had jumped through the open window of his car and was attacking a cat.

The cat belonged to another resident on the street and was taken to an emergency veterinarian in Norwalk. The cat had a broken neck and had to be euthanized.

Hyatt, of Vanguard Street, was issued infractions for a roaming dog, a nuisance dog, and failure to have his dog vaccinated.
