Chabad of Fairfield has planned a Purim celebration on Sunday at Congregation Ahavath Achim, 1571 Stratfield Road.
The party's theme is "Purim Under the Sea," and it will feature a seafood buffet, bubble show, sea crafts and a child-friendly reading of the Scroll of Esther, known in Hebrew as the Megillah.
The celebration begins at 5:15 p.m. and is open to the public. Tickets are $12 for children, $18 for adults and a maximum of $65 for families. Chabad requested that those planning to attend make reservations online at www.chabadff.com/purimfeast, but tickets will be available at the door.
Purim celebrates the Jews salvation in ancient Persia from the evil Haman's plot to destroy them. The story is told in the Old Testament's Book of Esther.
Chabad encouraged participants to wear costumes and said the celebration would focus on spirit, fun, and tradition.
