The Fairfield Chamber of Commerce has formed a new group for young professionals to help them improve their skills and learn how businesses are managed and run.

Members of the Fairfield Emerging Leaders Organization will visit chamber-member businesses, network with established professionals and serve as chamber ambassadors in the community, the chamber said in a news release.

The group also will raise money to fund a newly created college scholarship for a Fairfield graduating high school student who will major in business.

Chairman of the new group is Darrin Fodor, who works for People's United Bank.

The young professionals group will host a social gathering Thursday, Jan. 20, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Fairfield Theatre Co., 70 Sanford St. Tickets ordered in advance online are $10 for chamber members and $15 for nonmembers. There will be an additional $5 charge for walk-ins, the chamber said.
