Charles J. O'Leary, 86, of Fairfield, the husband of the late Constance Higgins O'Leary, died June 8 at the Jewish Home for the Elderly.

Born in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Patrick and Catherine (Murphy) O'Leary and had been a Fairfield resident since 1952. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in business from Niagra University and received a master's degree in business from the University of Bridgeport. He was a retired director of financial operations for Sikorsky Aircraft.

In the community, he served as a member of the Fairfield Representative Town Meeting and Board of Finance; was a former chairman for the Board of Education and the Golf Commission. An avid golfer, he also was involved in the planning and financing the town's H. Smith Richardson Golf Course. He was a member and former treasurer of the Patterson Club, as well as a member of the Gaelic American Club in Fairfield and the Greenfield Hill Chapter AARP.

Survivors include two daughters, Sheila Heineken and her husband Dr. Christian Heineken of Shelton and Patricia Maguire and her husband Thomas of Milford; five grandchildren, Kathleen and Nicole Heineken, and Thomas, Michael and Erin Maguire; and two brothers, Msgr. Cornelius O'Leary, col. USAF (Ret.) of California and John O'Leary of Stratford.

A Mass of Christian Burial, concelebrated by his brother, will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, June 13, in St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road.
