A community conversation on tolerance and diversity in Fairfield's schools and the community in general will be held May 25 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart University, 5151 Park Ave.
"Is Fairfield a Tolerant Community? A Community Conversation on Diversity and Tolerance in the Shcools and the Greater Community" is the topic of the gathering. It is funded by a grant from the William Caspar Graustein Memorial Fund.
"This event will be a great opportunity for our town to openly discuss how diversity adds value and enhances the learning experience in our schools," said Anna Cutaia-Leonard, the school board's director of elementary education.
The model used for the conversation provides opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds to speak openly with each other; allows participants to clarify personal views on educational issues; helps to find common ground for action among participants, and supports participants as they explore differences.
