Cops: 3 women charged after texts lead to verge of street brawl
Three local women were arrested Friday night after they converged on a Greenfield Street parking lot ready to fight each other, one of the even brandishing a tire iron, according to police.
Bishop and Deitz had been sending Baranosky text messages all night that had "fighting words," police said. They agreed to met in the parking lot, where Deitz and Bishop said Baranosky got out of her car, swinging an object that turned out to be a tire iron. They said they grabbed the tire iron from Baranosky and then knocked her to the ground, before getting back in their cars and leaving the scene.
Baranosky called 911, and when officers arrived, they found her bleeding from a head injury. Police contacted Deitz and Bishop, who returned to the scene. After being charged, they were released on a promise to appear June 25 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
The police report gave no indication of the subject of the text messages.
